The general objective of the following study is to investigate the verbal comprehension and its correlation with the auditive discrimination and work memory among 3rd grade students of a public school in Bogotá. The instruments used and measured variables were the verbal comprehension and auditive discrimination using the Infant Neuropsycology Evaluation (INE) (2007), and assessment of working memory with subtest for digits, letters and number retention of the Wisc-IV .The results showed that there is a positive correlation between the verbal comprehension and auditive discrimination. However, it was not possible identify a significant correlation between work memory and the verbal comprehension or between work memory and auditive discrimination. Previous research has shown similar findings to those of the current study, and they highlight the argument that recognition of sequences of sound and its relationships precede understanding of words, a concept known as phoneme and words.es_ES
