Estudio de la influencia del método ABN en el establecimiento de la lateralidad y el rendimiento matemático de alumnos de 1º de Primaria

El propósito de esta investigación es conocer la relación que tiene el implemento del método ABN en el establecimiento de la lateralidad y el rendimiento en matemáticas en niños de Primer curso de Educación Primaria. Para ello, se han comparado los resultados obtenidos en lateralidad y matemáticas por parte de un grupo de alumnos educados en el sistema ABN con los obtenidos por parte de un grupo educado en el sistema tradicional. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron: test de lateralidad de la prueba neuropsicológica (Adaptado por Martín Lobo, Castellón, Rodríguez y Vallejo, del equipo del Instituto de Neuropsicología y Educación, Fomento) y para evaluar el rendimiento en matemáticas, dos subpruebas del test BADyG-E1 (problemas y cálculo). También se ha tomado la nota final en el área de matemáticas facilitadas por las tutoras de los alumnos. Los resultados no han evidenciado una relación significativa entre el tipo de método trabajado y el establecimiento de una adecuada lateralidad, pero sí la muestran entre el tipo de enseñanza y los resultados de una de las subpruebas del BADyG (problemas). Se concluye que el método ABN puede estas asociado a un buen rendimiento académico de los escolares.

The purpose of this investigation was determining the association between the implementation of the ABN procedure, the establishment of laterality and the mathematical performance in a sample of First Grade school children. Results obtained in laterality and mathematics in a sample educated with the ABN system have been compared with the ones obtained in a sample educated with the traditional system. The instruments applied were: the laterality test of the neuropsychological assessment (adapted by Martin Lobo, Castellón, Rodríguez & Vallejo, from the Institute of Neuropsychology and Education, Fomento) and, in order to test mathematical performace, two subtasks extracted from the BADyG-E1 test (problems and calculation). The final grade obtained by the students in mathematics (provided by their teachers) have been considered as well. Results do not show a significant relationship between the type of teaching system and the establishment of an adequate laterality. Nevertheless, they do show a significant relationship between the type of teaching system and the mathematical results obtained in one of the tasks contained in the BadyG (problems). It is concluded that the ABN system might associated to a good academical performance in school children.
