Spatial intelligence is an aspect of the human mind that, even though it grants strong cognitive tools, is frequently neglected in Spain’s education system. This happens for several reasons, one of them being the fact that this ability does not utilize conventional verbal or mathematical language, therefore presenting the struggle in directly stimulating it and, above all, evaluating it.
As an answer to that, this work aims to create a course syllabus for students of Educación plástica, visual y audiovisual (Plastic, visual and audiovisual education) in the 2º de ESO grade through projects-based learning that explores this competence. Research concerning previous attempts at understanding spatial intelligence has solidified the theoretical foundations of the work. The learning situation in question will consist in designing a maze using Minecraft, while also drawing an axonometric view that describes it with mathematical rigor, enriched by the students’ creative sensibilities. This last document must serve their fellow students to get through the maze, motivating not only the will to create a space, but also the will to communicate it.
This learning situation covers the main parameters of spatial intelligence that were studied in the research, directly stimulating it and pitching specific evaluation tools.
