dc.descriptionA conventional reading of The Forbidden (1884-1885), by Benito Pérez Galdós, confers upon it the condition of the most naturalistic novel in his abundant narrative production. However, some of the naturalistic characteristics that can be found in it are the product of a parodic will with respect to the literary movement of French origin, which was booming in those years. On the other hand, the story as a whole stron-gly denies the determinism typical of that movement. So rather than an example of naturalism, the novel can be considered a critical response to it.es_ES
dc.description.abstractUna lectura convencional de Lo prohibido (1884-1885), de Benito Pérez Galdós, le atribuye la condición de la más naturalista en su abundante producción de novelas. Sin embargo, algunas de las características naturalistas que en ella pueden hallarse son producto de una voluntad paródica respecto del movimiento literario de origen francés, en auge en esos años. El relato en su conjunto, por otro lado, niega de modo contundente el determinismo típico de ese movimiento. Por ello, más que ejemplo del naturalismo la novela puede considerarse una respuesta crítica a él.es_ES
