En este artículo, analizamos determinados elementos de las reformas educativas de los años noventa, el papel de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) en educación y la adopción de un modelo de enseñanza-aprendizaje por competencias. Los objetivos del mismo son analizar estos elementos relacionados con las mencionadas reformas y proponer una serie de principios clave para orientar la enseñanza hacia una sociedad del aprendizaje. Concluimos que las instituciones educativas escolares pueden ser consideradas, en su naturaleza y modo de funcionamiento, instituciones propias de la modernidad, cuyo alumnado, sin embargo, presenta y demanda rasgos de la postmodernidad.

In this article, we analyze elements of educational reforms from the 1990s, the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in education, and the adoption of a competence-based teaching-learning model. The objectives of this article are to analyze these elements related to the aforementioned reforms and propose a series of key principles to guide teaching towards a learning society. We conclude that school-based educational institutions can be considered, in their nature and mode of operation, institutions characteristic of modernity, whose students, however, present and demand features of post-modernity.
