El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el mundo funerario en la catedral de Córdoba, cuya principal peculiaridad es romper la tradicional forma de abordar este tema y tratar de renovar la forma de historiar la muerte y su influencia en la sociedad. Trataremos de analizar la mentalidad que durante la Baja Edad Media y la Edad Moderna tenían los diferentes sectores sociales sobre la muerte, a través de múltiples disciplinas históricas. Así, los dos grandes temas, partiendo de ese eje funerario-catedralicio, son las mentalidades (muerte) y la sociedad (grupos sociales que se enterraron). Ambos polos los hemos considerado como uno de los eslabones más significativos y efectivos del proceso cultural durante el período que tratamos.

The objective of this work is the study of the funeral world in the Cathedral of Cordoba, whose main peculiarity is to break the traditional way of approaching this issue and try to renew the way to chronicle death and its influence on society. We will try to analyze the mentality that during the Late Middle Ages and the Modern Age had the different social sectors about death, through multiple historical disciplines.Thus, the two major themes, starting from that funerary-cathedral axis, are mentalities (death) and society (social groups that were buried). Both poles have been considered as one of the most significant and effective links of the cultural process during the period we are dealing with.
