    Resumen:
This final synthesis chapter has four basic parts. The first identifies the major themes and patterns derived from the 11 country case studies. Among such factors discovered to promote happiness is the importance of (1) social relations, (2) connecting to nature, and (3) living in democratic/free societies. This part concludes with the articulation of a theory of happiness comprised of four key pillars: (1) social relations, (2) health, (3) moderation and intelligent consumption, and (4) positive external conditions such as good social welfare and low inequality. The second part of the chapter focuses on the power of words and examines diverse emic constructs of happiness across nations and cultures. The third part calls for a reimagination of education and provides a model of holistic education that promotes joyful, engaged learning. There is an emphasis on cooperative, student-centered, and project learning. There is also a focus on the integration of hard and soft skills. Key elements of teaching excellence are identified. The chapter concludes by presenting a new paradigm of education and development that goes beyond narrow materialistic and monetary outcomes, but instead promotes sustainable happiness and well-being for all.
