dc.description | There is a consensus in the educational field regarding the lack of interest shown by Spanish students towards the learning of science in the secondary stage. This apathy towards subjects such as physics and chemistry causes many students to turn their backs on scientific curricula when they have to choose, with the damage that this causes to a society that increasingly demands more scientific profiles. To solve this problem, new methodologies that focus on the student as a builder of their learning have been developed. For instance, methodologies such as problem-based learning (PBL) and guided research. On the other hand, using the interactions between science, technology, society and environment (STSE), or using a historical approach, have been noticed to be valuable strategies to awaken the interest of the students in sciences. This intervention proposal develops a series of activities based on PBL and guided research methodologies, which seek to arouse the interest of students using a STSE and historical approach. Students will adopt the roles of design engineers and scientific researchers while working on a common thread close to their reality, the train. The proposal is aimed at learning the contents of block 2 (i.e. the matter) of the subject of physics and chemistry of the 2nd year of the obligatory secondary education (OSE). This course is the first encounter of the Spanish students with the subject of physics and chemistry, and therefore it is key to arouse their motivation towards learning science. With the design and evaluation of the proposal completed, it can be concluded that the combination of these methodologies and approaches, helps to arouse the interest of the students in science. | es_ES |
| es_ES |
