Inteligencia emocional, creatividad y rendimiento académico en estudiantes de 10 a 11 años

El objetivo del presente estudio es analizar la relación existente entre inteligencia emocional,
creatividad y rendimiento académico en estudiantes de 10 a 11 años. La muestra la constituyen
50 estudiantes de la Unidad Educativa Freirestabile de Playas-Ecuador, a los cuales se les aplicó la
escala “Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24)” para medir la IE y el Cuestionario de Creatividad de
Turtle, (1980) para medir el nivel de creatividad. Para calcular el rendimiento académico se tomó
en cuenta el promedio total de cada asignatura del periodo lectivo 2016-2017. Los resultados obtenidos
indican que existe una relación estadísticamente significativa entre las variables de IE y creatividad,
sin embargo, no se encontró relación estadísticamente significativa entre las variables IE y
rendimiento académico. En cuanto a la relación entre el rendimiento académico y creatividad, los
resultados muestran que existe relación estadísticamente significativa entre creatividad y rendimiento
académico en la asignatura de Cultura Estética, sin embargo, el resto de asignaturas no
muestran relación significativa. Finalmente se procedió a realizar una propuesta de intervención
con el fin de potenciar la IE y la creatividad.

The goal of this study was to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence, creativity and
academic performance in students from 10 to 11 years of age. A sample of 50 students of the Educational
Unit Freirestabile of Playas-Ecuador was taken, who were given the scale "Trait Meta-Mood
Scale (TMMS-24)" to measure EI and the Questionnaire of creativity to Turtle, (1980) to measure
the level of creativity. To calculate the academic performance index the total average of each subject
in the academic year 2016-2017 was taken into account. The results obtained indicate that
there is a statistically significant relationship between the variables of IE and creativity, however,
there were no statistically significant relationship between the variables and academic performance.
As to the relation between academic performance and creativity, the results show that there
is a statistically significant relationship between creativity and academic achievement in the subject
of Culture Aesthetics, however, the rest of subjects show no significant relationship. Finally, a proposal
of intervention was made in order to enhance the IE and creativity.
