| dc.description | The Rubik's cube is one of the most complete puzzles. Its resolution requires high concentration and an active memory and, given its playful nature, it is questionable whether the training in its resolution could favor skills such as attention and memory and, consequently, academic performance. There are no studies on this subject. The objective of this work is to analyze the effect of training in Rubik's cube algorithm on attention, memory and therefore on the academic performance of sixth grade students of Villemar el Carmen I.E.D. Methodology: the selected sample is composed of 40 sixth grade students of the Villemar el Carmen school classified as follows: 20 students who perform training in the Rubik cube algorithm (experimental group) and 20 students who do not perform the training (control group). Neuropsychological evaluation tests NEUROPSI (Ostrosky-Solis, et al, 2003) are applied to assess attention and memory functions. Results: The results indicate that there are statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group regarding the processes of selective visual and tactile attention and sustained attention, but there are no statistically significant differences with respect to the auditory attention. Concerning memory, there are statistically significant differences in favor of the experimental group in terms of working memory and the evocation phase, but there are no differences with respect to the coding phase. With regard to school performance, the results show no statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group. Conclusions: The results obtained indicate that training in the Rubik's cube algorithm affects the processes of attention and memory and that there is a correlation between memory and school performance in mathematics. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | El cubo de Rubik es uno de los rompecabezas más completos. Su resolución requiere de una alta concentración y de una memoria activa y, dado su carácter lúdico, cabe preguntarse si el entrenamiento en su resolución podría favorecer capacidades como la atención y la memoria y en consecuencia el rendimiento académico. No hay estudios sobre este tema. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar el efecto del entrenamiento en el algoritmo del cubo de Rubik sobre la atención, la memoria y por ende sobre el rendimiento académico de los estudiantes de grado sexto del colegio Villemar el Carmen I.E.D. Metodología: la muestra seleccionada está compuesta por 40 estudiantes de grado sexto del colegio Villemar el Carmen clasificados así: 20 estudiantes que realizan entrenamiento en el algoritmo del cubo de Rubik (grupo experimental) y 20 estudiantes que no realizan el entrenamiento (grupo de control). Para evaluar las funciones de atención y memoria se aplican las pruebas de evaluación neuropsicológicas NEUROPSI (Ostrosky-Solis, et al, 2003). Resul-tados: Los resultados indican que hay diferencias estadísticamente significativas a favor del grupo experimental en cuanto a los procesos de atención selectiva visual y táctil y atención sostenida, pero no hay diferencias estadísticamente significativas con respecto a la atención auditiva. En cuanto a la memoria, hay diferencias estadísticamente significativas a favor del grupo experimental en cuanto a la memoria de trabajo y a la fase de evocación, pero no las hay con respecto a la fase de codificación. En lo que respecta al rendimiento escolar los resultados no muestran diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre el grupo experimental y el grupo de control. Conclusiones: Los resultados obtenidos indican que el entrenamiento en el algoritmo del cubo de Rubik incide en los procesos de atención y memoria y que hay una correlación positiva entre memoria y rendimiento escolar en matemáticas. | es_ES |
