dc.descriptionSeduction and death involve the breakdown of the established order, each revealed as a guilty offender that manages profoundly to alter events. In the pages of naturalistic novels, the clinical gaze of the writer does not overlook the destruction of nature, represented through illness and death, or the destruction of the peculiar artifice of seduction and its staging. Indeed, both elements are united, in the consideration of taboos, as concepts somehow relegated to denial by oversight in almost all spheres of thought (Aries 1983; Baudrillard 2008). This article compares the seduction strategies described in Thérèse Raquin (1867) of Emile Zola and Lo prohibido (1884–1885) of Benito Pérez Galdós and their close association with death.es_ES
dc.description.abstractLa seducción y la muerte conllevan la ruptura del orden establecido, revelándose así como elementos transgresores que consiguen alterar profundamente los acontecimientos. En las páginas de las novelas naturalistas, la mirada clínica de los escritores no pasa por alto la destrucción de la naturaleza, representada a través de la enfermedad y la muerte, ni la destrucción del artificio propio de la seducción y su puesta en escena. Precisamente, ambos elementos se hermanan en su consideración de tabús, conceptos relegados en cierta forma a la negación mediante su olvido en casi todas las esferas del pensamiento (Ariès 1983; Baudrillard 2008). En este artículo se comparan las estrategias de seducción descritas en Thérèse Raquin (1867) de Émile Zola y en Lo prohibido (1884–1885) de Benito Pérez Galdós y su estrecha vinculación con la muerte.es_ES
