Neuropsychology is increasingly important in the educational field, contributing to the intervention strategies of the educational process designed for the student's reality and context.
The objective of the present study is to analyze the relationship between inhibitory control and memory in a group of primary school students.
The research was carried out in a Public Institution of the rural border area with the city of Tunja, with participants (n = 40) of fifth grade of primary, aged between 10 and 13 years. Spontaneous curve and Stroop tests were used to evaluate memory and inhibitory control. A descriptive correlational design was used through the Pearson statistic.
The results show that there is no statistically significant correlation between inhibitory control and memory, since the probability value associated with the statistic in all cases is greater than 0.05. In conclusion the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected. More research is needed to clarify the possible relationships between inhibitory control and different memory systems.
On the basis of the results obtained, an intervention program is proposed to improve memory and inhibitory control.
