The pediatric palliative care (PPC) is the best way to offer a holistic attention and support to these children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. Specifically palliative care work in the area of pediatrics is incipient in Colombia. In the Fundacion HOMI – Hospital de la Misericordia, at least 27% of hospitalized children in 2014 and 2015, needed a specific attention on pediatric palliative care; it was about 4000 hospitalization and 400 outpatient events that could be attended by a PPC team. That is the reason because in this hospital there has begun the design, organization and implementation of the first PPC resource, since November of 2014, trying to make better the health attention of those children, to give a more complete support to health team and to reach appropriate distribution of health resources. It has been attended 82 hospitalized patients and 10 outpatients, from November of 2015 to August of 2016. We pretend to be the first PPC team in Colombia for 2017 and to become the PPC unit, with home care and educational and research activities, for 2020.
