Resumen:
El sector ferroviario se encuentra afrontando un desarrollo tecnológico que está elevando la
fiabilidad y seguridad de sus sistemas técnicos hasta umbrales sin precedentes, pero, por muy
elevada que sea la fiabilidad de los sistemas técnicos, estos continúan siendo operados por
seres humanos que cometen errores por naturaleza. El error humano, actualmente se
encuentra en el origen del 80% de los accidentes e incidentes ferroviarios, lo que hace que los
riesgos derivados de la conducta humana cobren una especial importancia en la gestión de la
seguridad operacional. El presente trabajo, tiene el objetivo de realizar un análisis de las
diferentes teorías que definen los aspectos cognitivos y sistémicos que originan un error
humano, abordándose metodologías orientadas a la prevención de accidentes ferroviarios
con factores humanos implicados. Las conclusiones obtenidas, muestran que existe una
necesidad de integrar los Factores Humanos y Organizativos, en todo el ciclo de vida del
sistema ferroviario.

The railway sector is facing a technological development that is raising the reliability and
safety of its technical systems to unprecedented levels, but no matter how high the reliability
of technical systems may be, they continue to be operated by human beings who make
mistakes by nature. Human error is currently at the origin of 80% of railway accidents and
incidents, which makes the risks derived from human conduct of special importance in the
management of operational safety. The present work, has the objective of carrying out an
analysis of the different theories that define the cognitive and systemic aspects that originate
a human error, addressing methodologies aimed at the prevention of railway accidents with
human factors involved. The conclusions obtained, show that there is a need to integrate
Human and Organizational Factors throughout the life cycle of the railway system.
