Hacia una metafísica del cronotopo en “El Aleph” de Borges

Resumen:
El espacio-tiempo ha sido analizado frecuentemente en las obras de Jorge Luis Borges, no
obstante, aún hay muchos aspectos que se pueden estudiar desde diferentes perspectivas.
En este caso se pretende realizar un análisis enfocado en el cuento “El Aleph” y teniendo en
cuenta el concepto de cronotopo de Mijaíl Bajtín. Este autor plantea la indisolubilidad del
espacio-tiempo y la influencia de este en la narración al punto de ser determinante para la
misma.
De tal manera que, partiendo de las características generales de la obra de Borges, su
insistencia en reflexionar acerca del espacio-tiempo, se realizará un acercamiento a “El
Aleph”, teniendo en cuenta especialmente que este cuento presenta importantes influencias
de diversas doctrinas y tradiciones religiosas, lo cual lleva a la construcción de un cronotopo
cuya definición es la eternidad y el infinito. En este mismo sentido, se atenderá también a
ciertas referencias metaliterarias de “El Aleph”, como La divina comedia de Dante Alighieri,
que ayudan a la comprensión de aspectos importantes del cronotopo en el cuento.

The relationship between space and time has been frequently studied in Jorge Luis Borges´
literary production, however, there are still many aspects that can be analyzed from
different perspectives. The purpose of this project is to develop an analysis of the story "The
Aleph" focused on the concept of the chronotope by Mikhail Bakhtin. This author raises the
indissolubility of space-time and its influence on the narrative to the point of being decisive
for it.
Considering the general characteristics of Borges's work, his insistence on reflecting the links
between space and time, this research approaches “El Aleph” from a multicultural
perspective, including doctrines and religions, as a well as considering its many literary
references, which leads to the construction of a chronotope whose definition is eternity and
infinity. In this same sense, the relationship of "The Aleph" with the Divine Comedy, by Dante
Alighieri, will be considered, as this novel also helps to understand important aspects of the
chronotope in the story, as many other literary references.
