| dc.description | This study is based on the proposal of Existential Resistance, a newly developed construct introduced in this work. The aim is to conceptually define it and empirically test it through the development of a specific measurement instrument. The central hypothesis is that this construct may operate as a transdiagnostic process, in line with current models based on common psychological processes involved in different forms of psychological distress, rather than independent diagnostic categories. An ad hoc questionnaire was developed, and an initial validation was conducted with adults in Spain using a cross-sectional correlational design. The results show a positive association between Existential Resistance and psychological distress, with differences across dimensions. Meaning in life is the most explanatory factor, whereas freedom and isolation reduce their overall contribution, and finitude shows a more complex pattern. The results provide initial empirical evidence for the construct and suggest its transdiagnostic relevance. | |
