| dc.description | This systematic review examines the extent to which social anxiety and insecure attachment (anxious and avoidant) predict FOMO in young adults (18-30 years). Following PRISMA 2020 guidelines, 20 empirical studies published between 2010 and 2026 were synthesized from five databases (PubMed, WoS, Scopus, PsycINFO, and SciSpace), with quality assessed using the ROBINS-I tool. Results identify anxious attachment as the most robust predictor (β between 0.33 and 0.53), followed by social anxiety. In contrast, avoidant attachment showed inconsistent associations. Key mediators include intolerance of uncertainty and dissatisfaction of basic psychological needs. It is concluded that FOMO is a clinical phenomenon rooted in relational vulnerability and fear of negative evaluation. Health interventions should prioritize strengthening attachment security and interpersonal emotional regulation over mere technological restriction. | |
