| dc.description | This paper identifies several major misconceptions concerning the nature of artistic activity and describes their negative impact on schools. In addition, it describes the important positive contributions the arts can make to the development of cognition and argues the importance of including the arts as a major resource for the educational development ofthe young. In developing this argument, a contrast is made between those Greek ideas that have provided an intellectual legacy for our conception of mind and emerging i deas in the arts and in cognitive psychology that provide a very different conception of thinking and human intelligence. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | Este documento identifica varios conceptos erróneos sobre la naturaleza de la actividad artística y describe su impacto negativo en las escuelas. Además, describe las importantes contribuciones positivas que las artes pueden hacer al desarrollo de la cognición y argumenta la importancia de incluir las artes como un recurso importante para el desarrollo educativo de los jóvenes. Al desarrollar este argumento, se establece un contraste entre las ideas griegas que han proporcionado un legado intelectual para nuestra concepción de la mente y las ideas emergentes en las artes y en la psicología cognitiva que proporcionan una concepción muy diferente del pensamiento y la inteligencia humana. | es_ES |
