In recent years, a great deal of attention has been paid to differential diagnosis of specific reading disorder or dyslexia across the developed countries. It is universally acknowledged that our current society should guarantee an educational response according to the needs of these particular students in order to provide them with equal access to Educational Systems. The potential consequences of not intervening this disorder beforehand might bring about a lack of opportunities and serious emotional effects for those who suffer from it. In this dissertation, a theoretical framework on dyslexia will be explored, emphasizing its conception, origins, typology and implications. This piece of writing will discuss the role played by institutional agents, families and educational psychologists. In addition, the main existing intervention programs will be described in order to, afterwards, make a comparison among some of those, and draw the corresponding conclusions, therefore. Finally, guidelines, recommendations and future directions of research will be offered for the treatment of developmental dyslexia with students enrolled in the third stage of Primary Education.es_ES
