This chapter delves into the enduring significance of lectures as a core teaching genre in higher education. In an era where the internet and digital technologies are reshaping education, it discusses the evolution from face-to-face to online lectures by examining the affordances and constraints of the digital context for communication. After an overview of research on lecture discourse, it presents findings from a literature review on pedagogic practices in EAP lectures, revealing the integration of diverse pedagogic approaches, particularly multilingual practices. The chapter highlights the importance of preparing EAP learners for the workplace and supporting their academic and personal growth through interactive lectures. Finally, it identifies future research directions to address the needs of contemporary society and provides some recommendations for lecture practices to enhance EAP learning.es_ES
