Forma parte del imaginario colectivo que las matemáticas son una gran estructura, sólida, imperturbable e impoluta, y de hecho, es así como se suele mostrar a los estudiantes. En realidad, la travesía que han seguido estos conceptos hasta llegar a su estado actual ha sido larga, tortuosa y con múltiples vaivenes. El método genético aboga por servirse del camino histórico que han utilizado, en este caso las matemáticas, justamente por ser el más natural e intuitivo a la hora de presentar y comprender los entes matemáticos. En concreto queremos presentar diferentes técnicas que se han utilizado a lo largo de los siglos para calcular el volumen de una esfera, facilitando así su comprensión.
