Resumen

Labor unions have historically played a vital role in ensuring workers' rights and fostering democratic labor relations. However, in the 21st century, they face unprecedented challenges, including declining membership, evolving workforce dynamics, and rapid technological advancements. This chapter explores the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on labor union operations, using Valorian — a pioneering Spanish union — as a case study. Unlike traditional unions, Valorian adopts a collaborative and innovation-driven approach, integrating AI into its core operations to enhance efficiency, improve member engagement, and promote ethical labor practices. By conducting a comparative historical and organizational analysis of Spanish labor unions, this study examines how Valorian leverages AI to address contemporary labor challenges. It also assesses the ethical, strategic, and operational implications of AI adoption in union activities, providing insights into AI's role in shaping the future of labor representation.
