Resumen:
El uso del Usted en el español se ha mantenido en relaciones entre desconocidos, profesionales, rangos o en diferencias de edad. Generalmente, en la relación profesor-alumno en un entorno universitario, el uso de Usted es el primer signo de respeto y rango en las aulas. Sin embargo, el intento por conseguir la estabilidad social y cultural entre iguales lleva al uso del Tú. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar la transición del Usted al Tú entre profesores y alumnos en un proceso de defensa de trabajos de fin de máster en universidades españolas. La herramienta de investigación fue un cuestionario de Likert y una rúbrica. A través del método de ecuaciones estructurales se recabaron 196 respuestas, y otras 40 del método adicional de observación. Los resultados obtenidos destacaron las razones principales del tuteo en entornos educativos y su relevancia como herramienta facilitadora de comunicación.

The use of Usted in the Spanish language has lingered in relationships between strangers, professionals, ranks or where the age difference between the speakers is differentiated. Generally, in the teacher-student relationship in a university environment, the use of Usted is the first sign of respect and rank in the classrooms. However, the attempt to achieve social and cultural stability between equals leads to using Tú. The objective of the study was to analyse the transition from Usted to Tú between lecturers and students in a masters's thesis defense process in universities in Spain. The research tool was a Likert-scale-based questionnaire and a rubric. Through the structural equation method, 196 responses were collected and another 40 from the additional observation method employed. The results obtained highlighted the main reasons for the use of Tú in educational environments and its relevance as a facilitating communication tool.
