Mompou revisited: intimate impressions

Abstract

Mompou Revisited is a personal and artistic reinterpretation by pianist and composer Lluís Capdevila of the piano music of Catalan composer Frederic Mompou. Through the lens of contemporary jazz and improvisation, this project explores the intimate textures, harmonic subtleties, and spiritual depth of Mompou’s work. The album reflects a dialogue between tradition and innovation, aiming to preserve the essence of Mompou’s sound world while opening new expressive possibilities. Developed as part of a Leonardo Grant for Researchers and Cultural Creators (BBVA Foundation), the project exemplifies artistic research rooted in performance and composition.
