Resumen:
Los estatutos del hospital de la Vera Cruz fundado por Pedro Fernández de Velasco en Medina de Pomar quedaron recogidos en un documento firmado en Valladolid el 14 de agosto de 1455. El conde de Haro dispuso y ordenó tanto el aparato administrativo del complejo hospitalario y su dotación, así como la comunidad que debía gestionarlo y a la que dar servicio. Este documento conocido como el Capitulado, cuenta con una iluminación a plena página que actúa a modo de frontispicio y que contribuye activamente al conocimiento de la fundación hospitalaria, así como a la construcción y proyección de la memoria de su promotor. El presente trabajo se centra en el análisis de la materialidad del Capitulado y en dicha imagen, lo que además nos ha permitido reflexionar sobre aspectos fundamentales que atañen a la gestión del hospital y a su relación con la orden de caballería de la Vera Cruz

The statutes of the Hospital of the Vera Cruz, established by Pedro Fernández de Velasco in Medina de Pomar, are preserved in a document signed in Valladolid on August 14, 1455. The Count of Haro delineated the administrative structure of the hospital complex, its endowment, and the community tasked with its management and service provision. This document, known as the Capitulado, features a full-page illumination serving as a frontispiece, which plays a critical role in understanding the hospital’s foundation and in shaping and perpetuating the memory of its founder. This study undertakes a scholarly examination of the materiality of the Capitulado and its illumination, offering insights into key aspects of the hospital’s administration and its ties to the Order of the Knights of the Vera Cruz.
