Introducción. Se desconoce si los menores con trauma complejo pueden tolerar y
beneficiarse de tratamientos empíricamente validados para el TEPT. Asimismo, no están
identificados qué componentes son más efectivos para controlar el TEPTC en esta población.
Objetivos. Evaluar la efectividad de la terapia EMDR en el abordaje del TEPTC en niños y
adolescentes dentro de un marco contextual de maltrato.
Métodos. Se ha efectuado una revisión sistemática siguiendo las directrices PRISMA,
utilizando WOS, Scopus, ProQuest y Ebsco para identificar la literatura relevante desde 2018
hasta la actualidad, incluyendo un total de 12 artículos.
Resultados. Los síntomas de TEPTC disminuyeron después del tratamiento, sin necesidad de
estabilización, beneficiándose de terapias intensivas y breves. El TEPTC originó niveles
mayores de síntomas antes y después del tratamiento, pero sin impacto significativo en la
efectividad del tratamiento.
Conclusiones. EMDR provoca una pérdida de diagnósticos y reduce significativamente la
sintomatología y comorbilidad asociada al TEPTC.

Introduction. It’s unknown whether children with complex trauma can tolerate and benefit
from empirically validated treatments for PTSD. Likewise, the components that are most
effective in controlling PTSD in this population have not been identified.
Objectives. To evaluate the effectiveness of EMDR therapy in the approach of CPTSD in
children and adolescents within a contextual framework of maltreatment.
Methods. A systematic review has been carried out following the PRISMA guidelines, using
WOS, Scopus, ProQuest and Ebsco to identify the relevant literature from 2018 to the
present, including a total of 12 articles.
Results. The symptoms of CPTSD decreased after treatment, without the need for
stabilization, benefiting from intensive and brief therapies. CPTSD caused higher levels of
symptoms before and after treatment, but with no significant impact on treatment
effectiveness.
Conclusions. EMDR causes a loss of diagnoses and significantly reduces the symptomatology
and comorbidity associated with CPTSD.
