In context of rapid changes in territorializing processes, it is proposed to develop a
photographic project to express the genius loci of Puerto Eten village, on the Peruvian north
coast.
Based on theoretical problematizations of genius loci, its study through phenomenological
theory of architecture, the contributions of heritage studies to the concept and different
project references that address landscape and architecture photography, a methodology is
proposed for the expression of the spirit of the place. The necessary elements for it are
identified and a photographic project composed of a statement and twelve photographs is
obtained, which, together with the investigative process, constitute a photobook.
The research results in a group of images that mean a visual invention of the holistic
experience of the place over time, using a subjective documentary language that prioritizes
atmospheric action and generates a dialogue with the viewer. The photographic project
transcends documentary values to form an instrument for reflection on memory, oblivion, the
passage of time and the role that landscape photography has in the construction of
imaginaries, as well as a tool to evoke experience.
